The locals seem to buy into the bard = entertainer misconception.
Any true bard is as much loremaster as musician, the repositories of history and the educators of nobles before literacy became widespread.
To be fair this is highly prevalent in RPGs, to such an extent that most people I know would never want to play a bard even if you paid them.
I’m actually really interested in playing a bard. I have a bard character already who is very much a storyteller, loremaster, and historian, but I don’t know how well she’d fit into an RPG. Hence a new character, an Elven Bard. (Also, yay for WAMOH and Ears for Elves!)
I never played bard i always play a fighter whit a zweihander.
I’m big on gestalt characters, but tend to favor Sorcerer, Druid, Monk, and Ranger out of the core classes. ^_^
